Before Missio Amare Migranti came into being, the Migrants Program (MP) was already quietly carrying out its mission as part of Couples for Christ’s social development arm. As such, it answered the deeper call to root every act of service in faith, and to bridge outreach with evangelization through the Christian Life Program (CLP).
The seeds already had been sown. Through a partnerships with recruitment agency JM International led by then-MP Director Jess Ferrer, the program had begun reaching out to migrant workers, offering not only assistance but also spiritual formation.
Then came 2020. The world fell still under the weight of the COVID-19 pandemic. Borders closed, gatherings halted, and the familiar rhythm of ministry was disrupted. For a program built on personal encounters, the silence was deafening.
But the mission did not stop; it transformed.
In the isolation, MP turned to digital platforms, discovering Zoom as an unexpected sanctuary. What began as a temporary solution soon evolved into a new way of evangelizing. In time, virtual halls were filled with more voices than ever, as stories were shared, faith rekindled, and community rebuilt across time zones.
By late 2021, the vision took on a bold new form: Finding God Beyond Borders. Inspired by Jeremiah 29:13 – You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart” – the CLP embraced a reality where distance was no longer a barrier to encounter.
From September 3 to October 22, fifty-nine participants gathered online from different corners of the world. They logged in from Saipan, Singapore, Metro Manila, and Qatar — each bringing their own stories of struggle, hope, and faith. Among them were fourteen couples, twenty-four women from HOLD, two men from SOLD, and five members of Singles for Christ. Facilitating the sessions was a committed group of Migranti workers composed of Manny and Villa Lector (supervising couple), Noel and Tessa Flojo (team leaders), Dario and Amie Coronel together with Ferdie and Ruth Garcia (assistant team leaders).
Despite closed borders and physical distance, something profound unfolded. Screens could not contain the Spirit. Connections deepened, lives were renewed, and faith flourished in ways no one had imagined.
In the end, the program proved a simple but powerful truth: God’s presence knows no boundaries and His call reaches every heart, wherever it may be.
